Tim joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard in 2002. He focuses on complex litigation involving product liability claims, business disputes, appellate practice, and class actions, in addition to serving as coverage counsel. He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Illinois State Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and its Appellate and Pro Bono Committees, the Appellate Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute and its Appellate Advocacy, Insurance Law, and Product Liability Committees, and Phi Delta Phi.
Casey F. Wong focuses his practice on products liability, business litigation, and insurance coverage matters. He represents clients in both Missouri and Illinois.
Prior to joining Sandberg Phoenix, Cody served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Paul Wilson at the Missouri Supreme Court. During law school, Cody completed an externship with Federal Magistrate Judge Robert Larsen in the Western District of Missouri in Kansas City. In that same Court, Cody worked alongside the appellate unit at the United States Attorney’s Office. He also worked as an intern with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office in Kansas City, where he was exposed to a wide range of litigation.
Larry joined Sandberg Phoenix in September of 2011 as an associate and has experience in various litigation matters in both state and federal courts. His work focuses on serious injury and complex litigation. He also represents a wide variety of product manufacturers and businesses in personal injury cases. Additionally, Larry has extensive experience in the area of insurance law, primarily handling coverage and bad faith matters. He has worked with a number of insurance companies, providing comprehensive analysis of policy coverage, as well as recommendations on how the client can best limit their potential exposure.
In 2017, Tamar received her J.D. from the University of Missouri – Columbia after earning her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. A registered nurse in the State of Missouri with six years of experience in critical care, Tamar brings in-depth healthcare industry insight to
Tamar completed an internship with The Honorable Karen King Mitchell of the Missouri Court of Appeals, in which she was responsible for document review and drafting bench memoranda in preparation for oral arguments. She also clerked during law school at a firm in Columbia, Missouri where she handled plaintiff’s personal injury cases and criminal defense cases.
David Hoffman joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard in 2003. He focuses his practice in the firm’s products liability and general litigation areas. David has experience working on a variety of sports injury lawsuits, including issues related to supervision, faulty equipment, and the applicability of waivers. Prevention of sports-related injuries and lawsuits is of keen interest to him as well. As such, he lectures on risk management issues to a variety of local businesses and recreational professionals.
Zach Merkle joined Sandberg Phoenix in 2017 as an associate. A graduate of the Saint Louis University School of Law, Zach served as a law clerk for The Hon. Kurt S. Odenwald of the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District for two years.
While at Saint Louis University, Zach worked as a student attorney in the Saint Louis University Legal Clinic, handling unemployment appeals, crime victim compensation claims and other matters.
Zach also served as an intern with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and for The Hon. David Hylla, Chief Judge in Madison County, Illinois.

Jillian Van Hoy joined Sandberg Phoenix as an Associate in 2015 and focuses her legal work on health law, including medical malpractice, regulatory issues and long-term care and senior living matters. Jillian also handles business litigation and product liability cases, such as labor and employment law matters and contract disputes.
